Toddler/Pre-school Room Leader needed in Wimbledon


We are currently recruiting on behalf of a ‘Good’ day Nursery situated in Wimbledon who are currently looking for a permanent Room Leader to join their Toddler/Pre-School room.

The Nursery is open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6.30pm all year, it provides morning, afternoon and full day sessions for children aged 1-5 years. This 30 place setting operates across one floor with age appropriate areas provided to the children to support them with their development. They also have a Mezzanine which is used for structured activities for the over 2’s. This setting has an age appropriate garden which each age group can access during their designated timeslot.

As the Room Leader of the Toddler/Pre-school you be will required to manage up to 2 members of staff in addition to being responsible for key children. This job will require you to run the room to a high standard whilst supporting your team. As well as caring for the children and recording their development.

Your role will include:

·         Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development

·         Providing high quality care for the children within the setting

·         Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents, attending parent and staff meetings

·         Implementing the EYFS curriculum, Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children

·         Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s

·         Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children

·         Assisting and supporting other staff within the room

·         Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians

·         Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting

·         Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden

·         Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment

·         Attending parent and staff meeting

·         Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s


All candidates must have:

·         A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent

·         Previous experience as Room Leader is desirable

·         The ability to work well in a team

·         Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS, Ofsted & Safeguarding

·         Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

·         Outstanding time keeping and attendance record

·         A positive & friendly nature
