Job description

We are searching for a Qualified Nursery Manager that is looking to undertake an exciting new permanent role in Bromley!

This well-established Bromley based Pre-School is looking for an experienced Nursery Manager to join their setting, which caters for up to 32 children per session aged 2 - 4 years old. The role is for up to 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday, working from 8:00am – 5:00pm, 38 weeks a year.

The Nursery Manager is responsible for managing and leading the setting to ensure that high quality childcare is provided to all. The list below summarises the key areas of responsibility. This role profile is not exhaustive and the Nursery Manager is expected to fulfil any duty as required for the effective running of the setting.

Your role will include;

 

·         Ensuring the children across all age groups reach their highest potential throughout their development through the EYFS and consistently providing high quality care for the children within the setting to an exemplary standard

·         Proactively engage with the children in the setting, taking an active role in their care, learning and development while at the nursery and supporting staff in all aspects of their role

·         Maintaining excellent communication with parents about their child’s everyday activities and their learning and development whilst also ensuring parents involvement in the Nursery

·         Adhering to safeguarding requirements and take on the role of Safeguarding Lead for the setting

·         Observing best practice and compliance with legislative requirements in all areas of employment, including any requirements outlined by Ofsted

·         Overall responsibility for the proactive recruitment and retention of staff, extending to maintaining accurate and compliant files

·         Generally managing and having responsibility for all employment relations such as; inductions, review meetings, probations, grievances, attendance management and disciplinary issues, while also coaching and mentoring the staff including training and guidance

·         Overall responsibility for the nursery’s budget, monthly payroll and invoicing, occupancy, expenditure and recovery debt

·         Ensuring the accurate reporting and recording of accidents and incidents

·         Achieving occupancy targets and wider partnership objectives through the effective implementation of marketing strategies for the nursery

·         Overall responsibility for the safe and appropriate management of the building and utilities, including arranging repairs and maintenance works while liaising with contractors and proactively identifying any site needs

A successful candidate must have the following;

·         A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare & Education or full and relevant equivalent

·         Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS, Ofsted inspection framework & Safeguarding

·         Comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety requirements

·         Experience and knowledge of managing budgets, invoicing, payroll and developing and implementing a marketing strategy

·         Proven leadership experience in a Nursery and management of employee relations issues

·         Working knowledge of equal opportunities legislation

·         Good understanding of IT through email and Microsoft Office tools as well as internet

·         Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

·         A positive & friendly nature with a passion for childcare

·         Paediatric first aid

·         First Aid at Work

·         An up-to-date and satisfactory DBS
