Job description

We are searching for an experienced Qualified Level 3 Nursery Nurse that is looking to undertake an exciting new permanent role in Clapham.

This Clapham based Day Nursery is looking for an experienced Room Leader to be based in their Toddler room, which caters for up to 14 children per day aged 2-3 years old. The role is for 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 51 weeks a year and the setting is operational 8:00am – 6:00pm. The 40 hours per week is 4 days of 8:00am – 6:00pm and one alternating day of 9:00 – 1:00pm.

The Nursery is located within a beautiful, large historic building with green outside play areas where the children can create and explore, and also grow their own produce in miniature allotments. The setting is also situated a short walk from the nearby station and local amenities within Clapham.

Your role as Room Leader means you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the room and supporting the management team in leading the setting to ensure that high quality childcare is provided to all.

Your role will include;

·         Ensuring the children across all age groups reach their highest potential throughout their development

·         Providing high quality care for the children within the setting

·         Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents, attending parent and staff meetings, as well as undertaking appropriate supervision meetings/processes for all members in your team following the Management approach

·         Implementing the EYFS curriculum, completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children

·         Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment at all times

·         Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s

·         Completing Health and Safety checks on a daily basis

·         Providing leadership and management to the staff in your room

·         Assisting in recruiting staff and also proactively supporting the induction and probation of new staff members

·         Preparing training and staffing rotas

·         Supporting the staff with their paperwork and planning for the children’s specific needs

·         Supervising and encouraging staff to maintain a proactive and professional team

·         Ensuring all record keeping is accurate and up-to-date within your designated area, including learning journeys of all children in your room any other forms/records required for the children’s individual welfare, learning and development

 

 

A successful candidate must have the following;

·         A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare & Education qualification or equivalent

·         An up-to-date and satisfactory DBS

·         Sound working knowledge of Two-Year Progress Check

·         Minimum of 1 years’ post-qualifying experience working with children aged 0-5 years

·         Experience of leading a team and staff management with the ability to work well in a team

·         Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Framework, Ofsted Early Years Inspection requirements, Safeguarding & Welfare issues concerning children

·         Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

·         A positive & friendly nature with a passion for childcare

·         Ability to proficiently use IT systems; including working with databases, Microsoft office, email, internet

·         Enthusiastic attitude and sound knowledge towards child development

·         Good planning and organisational skills in order to balance a busy and varied workload
