Job Description

Brand new Nursery situated in Southfields is looking for an experienced Baby Room Practitioner to join their growing team. The setting is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed over the Christmas break. They are open Monday – Friday 07:45 – 18:30 and cater for up to 28 children aged between 9 months – 5 years.

The nursery is situated within a brand new purpose built building and also has access to its own enclosed garden. They have four large age based rooms each with brand new resources to help each child learn and develop to their full potential.

The position will be working with children aged 9 months to 2 years within the Baby Room and ensuring that the room is run to a high standard. You will be responsible for up to 6 key children and will need to ensure that all folders and observations are completed and kept up to date.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Maintain a clean and tidy nursery and garden area and ensure books, toys and equipment are clean and in good order
  • Helping children at meal times and then tidy and clear away afterwards following each childs weaning plans in accordance with parents wishes



All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate is desirable but not essential
  • At least 2 years relevant experience with children aged 6 – 30 months
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and how to implement this into planning and observations
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal
  • A positive can do attitude
  • A sound knowledge of how to develop and maintain strong partnerships with parent/carers
