Job Description

This Nursery is situated on The Old Kent Road and they are looking for a Deputy Manager and a Nursery Practitioner to start in January 2019 joining their team of dedicated staff. These positions are to work term-time only in the Pre-School room.  It is open Monday to Friday, from 08:00 -18:00 for 38 weeks of the year for children aged 2 - 5 years and caters for up to 32 children a day.

The Nursery is easily accessible by bus and is close to the local stations.  Positive relationships between parents and staff are encouraged at all times to ensure they maintain a positive co-operative environment for the best interests of the children.  You will need to ensure the children are given the opportunity to carry out child led activities throughout their routine using the EYFS curriculum.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the Nursery policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s

 

All candidates must have:

  • A minimum of an NVQ Level 2 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a Deputy is desired – with a Level 3
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS, Ofsted & Safeguarding
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Outstanding time keeping and attendance record
  • A positive & friendly nature
