Job Description

This outstanding nursery situated in Finchley is looking for a dynamic Pre-School Deputy Room Leader. Starting salary £22,000. The nursery is operational all year round Monday-Friday, 07:45 – 18:15. The setting is open for 50 weeks of the year and caters for 76 children from ages 3 months to 5 years.

This Nursery is split into 5 rooms according to the ages and stages of development and there is a Baby room for 3 months to 16 months which supports babies with the early stages of development it also has a separate sleep room.  The Toddler room is for children 16 months to 24 months the children are supported with the early stages of independence exploring the environment around them. There are 2 older Toddler rooms for children 2-3 years where they are building on their social skills. The Pre-School room where the role as Deputy Room Leader is for children 3-5 years, they have a more structured routine and being prepared for school. There is a large outdoor garden where children are able to have free play and explore the environment there is a play structure, sand pit and a range of physical equipment, Children are also taken on regular outings in the local community.

Your role as Pre-school Deputy Room Leader will be responsible for working in line with the EYFS & Statutory requirements, you will be a keyworker for a group of children working within Pre-School room ensuring that children’s development is monitored and recorded through the EYFS curriculum, You will need to keep key children’s development journals up to date. You will need to be able to build trusting relationships with children and support their holistic needs.  As the Deputy Room Leader you will need to be able to lead and manage the team building positive relationships with staff and supporting them with their professional development. Your role will be to have positive partnerships with parents supporting them and providing feedback in regards to their children’s learning.

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 or above in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • Experience working in a similar role as Deputy Room Leader or Room Leader
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS & statutory requirements
  • Excellent leadership skills  
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Experience of working in accordance with Ofsted
  • Excellent partnership with parents
