Job Description

This nursery situated in Dulwich is looking for a Strong Early Years Practioner to join their under 2s room. This nursery is open weekdays from 07:30 – 18:30 all year round except one week at Christmas and one week in August. The nursery caters for 90 children a day aged 3 months – 4 years.

They are set within a large building that is close to East Dulwich train station.  The Baby room is across the first floor and holds up to 24 Babies. They have a separate sleep room that offers a calm environment. The Toddler Room is over the second floor and has two rooms which is split into age groups 2 – 3 year olds  that holds 15 and 3 - 3 ½  years that holds 16. Preschool can hold up to 30 children. They also have a large garden with spaces to plant own flowers and vegetables. The outdoor area has a built in car track and enhanced climbing frame. They also provide extra curriculum activities such as Tennis, Music and Movement and Language lessons.  

The position will be working with children aged 3 months - 1 year within the Baby Room and ensuring that the room is run to a high standard and assisting the other staff within the room. You will be responsible for 6 key children, caring and nurturing for young babies whilst watching them progress in there development.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Supporting both parents and children during settling process
  • Understanding and carrying out weaning for babies.
  • Supporting early walkers & crawlers
  • Development of Speech through Singing/ Reading
  • Carrying out nappy changes
  • Supporting during mealtimes

 

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a small team
