Job Description

StaffBank are recruiting on behalf of an Outstanding nursery in Purley to find enthusiastic and motivated nursery practitioners to join their fun and friendly team. This Outstanding Nursery is looking for Level 2 and Level 3 Practitioners to join their team.  The setting is operational for 51 weeks of the year and is open Monday to Friday, from 07.45 -18.00 (42.5hrs a week) and caters for up to 67 children aged 3 months to 5 years. 

The Nursery is situated in a large detached house and is equipped with age-appropriate toys.  There are 5 rooms and a separate baby unit.  It has a large enclosed outdoor garden with 2 further covered outdoor areas.  The Setting is easily accessible and has great transport links and parking is available.  They follow the EYFS curriculum and the Montessori Method of teaching and positive relationships between parents and staff are encouraged at all times to ensure they maintain a positive co-operative environment for the best interests of the children. They also provide extra curricular activities such as swimming and forest school.

You will need to ensure the children are given the opportunity to carry out child led activities throughout their routine and following the ‘foundation stage’ preparing them for their eventual move to school , fostering independence and helping the children reach their highest potential throughout their learning and development.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum & Montessori Method and leading planning meetings
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the setting  
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the Nursery policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Preparing the children for the move to school
  • Strong emphasis on the 3 main areas of learning
  • Encourage the children’s writing


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 2 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • The ability to work within a large team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS/Foundation Stage
  • Great communication skills
