Job Description

This nursery situated in Lewisham is looking for L2 & L3 Nursery practitioners to join their team. The nursery is operational all year round Monday-Friday, 07:30 – 18:30 and caters for 105 children ages 0 – 4 years. The Nursery also provides before School after school and holiday provision for children 4 – 8 years old. The hours can be flexible working around your life style.

The Nursery is situated very close to Ladywell Station and 7 large rooms and 2 separate outdoor spaces one for the babies and one for the older children.  The Baby room is designed to cater for babies 3 months plus they are encouraged to develop and progress at their own pace and grow in confidence. The toddler room is divided into 2 groups, children are encouraged to explore and develop the start of their independence skills. The Pre-school groups are designed to promote independence and readiness for school and build on their social skills. The out of school provision supports children before and after school they are collected in a mini bus then supported with their homework, and given age appropriate activities and experiences for children during the out of school hours and holiday periods. The play scheme provides children with a range of fun activities and children are taken on exciting trips.

Your role as the Early Years practitioner would be to support the children in their development you will be a keyworker for a group of children monitoring their development keeping up to date records and learning journals. You will need to be able to help with the planning and implementation of the EYFS curriculum and set up educational play experiences. You will need to be able to work well in a team and independently using your own initiative, have excellent communication skills building trusting relationships with children, Partnerships with parents and working with other professionals in regards to supporting children with SEN and inclusion. You will need to stay up to date with new legislation and follow the nurseries policies and procedures and work in accordance with Ofsted.

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years post qualifying work experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS & statutory requirements
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • The ability to work a part of a team
