Job Description

StaffBank are recruiting on behalf of a nursery in Coulsdon to find enthusiastic and motivated nursery practitioners to join their fun and friendly team working 4 days a week.  The salary is £16,640 and they have many other benefits including a uniform, 28 days holiday & a day off for your birthday, company pension and much more.

This newly-opened Nursery is looking for 4 Nursery Practitioners to join their team to work 40 hours a week over 4 days.  It is open Monday to Friday, from 07:30 -18:30 for 51 weeks of the year for children aged 3 months to 5 years and cater for up to 64 children a day.  They need 1 practitioner for the pre-school and 3 other practitioners in their baby room.

The Nursery School is situated in 2 spacious & light rooms and is equipped with age-appropriate toys and also has a large outdoor play space.  In the Under 2’s room there is space for 15 children and the Over 2’s room has space for 49 children. The Nursery is easily accessible by bus, is close to the local train station and has parking available.  Positive relationships between parents and staff are encouraged at all times to ensure they maintain a positive co-operative environment for the best interests of the children. 

Your role will have to be flexible and you will need to be able to work with all ages. You will have 8 to 10 key children and you will need to ensure the children are given the opportunity to carry out child led activities throughout their routine using the EYFS curriculum.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Working as a team
  • Having 10 key children
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Providing stimulating sensory opportunities for the babies
  • Encouraging the babies with their progress with their personal needs including weaning, crawling, walking
  • Nappy changing, potty training
  • Bottle feeding and preparing bottles (either formula or breast milk)
  • Encouraging shape & number recognition
  • Preparing the children for school (writing their own name)
  • Assist the children with school readiness, eg: turn-taking, carpet time
  • Encourage healthy eating and good table manners during mealtimes
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Tracking the children’s progress and setting next steps
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the Pre-School policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment by following & understanding Safeguarding procedures
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • The ability to work within a large team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
