Job Description

Outstanding nursery situated in Kensington is looking for a Montessori Teacher to join their Pre-School Room. The nursery is operational 38 weeks of the year, closed over the half terms and summer holidays. They are open Monday – Friday 08:00 – 17:00 and cater for up to 25 children aged between 2 – 5 years.

The nursery is situated within the ground floor of a large building and has two spacious rooms for the children to enjoy, which have age appropriate equipment and activities set out for the children each day. They also have a large outdoor space for the children enabling them to explore the outside environment. The setting focuses on the Montessori method while also ensure the Early Years Foundation Stage is followed at all times and ensuring the children reach their highest potential throughout their development. The setting also provides extra curricular activities to enable the children to learn additional skills.

The position will be working with children aged 3 – 5 years old within the Pre-School Room, Monday to Friday 08:00 – 17:00, term time only. You will need to ensure that you can use the Montessori Method and EYFS to prepare the children before they progress onto school.

Your role will include:

  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum and Montessori Ethos
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Assisting and supporting the children at meal times
  • Preparing the children for the transition to school
  • Carrying out Jolly Phonics as part of the daily routine
  • Developing their writing skills


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • Montessori Diploma (Desired)
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within a Montessori setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Safeguarding
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a team
