Nursery Assistant needed in Holland Park

This nursery situated in Holland Park is looking for a Nursery Assistant to join their team. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closing for all the Bank Holidays and Christmas break. The nursery is open Monday – Friday 07:00 – 19:00 with the Baby Room opening from 07:30- 18:30. They cater for up to 70 children aged between 3 months – 5 years old.

The setting is based within a converted house and has been open since 1990. The nursery provides care from 3 months to 5years and have priority for the children from the nursery to move into the nearby School when 5 years old. The Nursery is split into three age groups and all have their own rooms to provide a high standard of care appropriate for the ages. All rooms have their own access to a private garden and the nursery takes the children on regular trips to the local park.

The position will be working within the Baby Room with children aged 3 months – 2 years working with a team of 2 other members of staff, ensuring that the Baby Room is run to a high standard. You will be responsible for 4 Key Children and you will need to monitor their progress in line with the EYFS.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the babies within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with the children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum at all times
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Providing various activities to develop their Physical development; crawling and walking
  • Working together with the parents to ensure a smooth process when weaning young babies
  • Doing regular nappy changes
  • Providing exciting sensory activities for the children
  • Encouraging the children from 18 months to use the potty
  • Running circle time focusing on the children’s language development through singing nursery rhymes and reading books

All candidates must have:

  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • The ability to work well within a small team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
