Nursery Assistant needed in Ruislip

This nursery situated in Ruislip is looking for a Nursery Assistant to join their Baby Room. The nursery is operational throughout the year, closing for the Bank Holidays and Christmas break. They are open Monday – Friday 07:30 – 18:00 and cater for up to 70 children.

The setting is within a large purpose built building and is all on the ground floor with three separate rooms for each age group. The Toddler room is separated into the different areas of learning for the children to explore freely. The Pre-School is a large space which enables the children to explore age appropriate resources and enables the children to become more independent prior to school. All rooms have a high standard of resources enabling the practitioners to provide a variety of fun and exciting learning opportunities. The setting boasts a large outdoor space where all three age groups have their own direct access and the garden has various age appropriate resources for the children to explore. The children have the opportunity to take part in a variety of extracurricular activities on a weekly basis.

The position will be working within the Baby Room with children aged 3 months – 2 years old within a team of 4 members of staff, ensuring that the Baby Room is run to a high standard. You will be responsible for 4 Key Children and you will need to monitor their progress in line with the EYFS. The Baby Room is a large room where the babies have a vast area to explore and a separate cot room and nappy changing area. The resources are all on a low level for the babies to reach for themselves enabling them to begin developing their own interests. The room focuses on sensory play which enables the children to explore sounds and textures. The Baby Room has a role-play area for the babies to begin to explore different resources to develop their young imaginations and also has low level sand and water play.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with the children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum at all times
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Attending parents evening and staff meetings
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Doing regular nappy changes
  • Working well within a team
  • Developing the children’s sensory exploration through sand, water and messy play activities
  • Using effective teaching to a high standard to develop their early communication skills through singing nursery rhymes and reading
  • Developing the children’s fine and gross motor skills; crawling, rolling, pulling themselves up, clapping, grasping toys, pressing buttons, walking
  • Working together with parents to ensure a smooth process when weaning young babies
  • Supporting the children at meal times

All candidates must have:

  • At least 1 years relevant recent experience within an Early Years setting working with the under fives
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
