Position: Nursery Manager


Salary: 32,000-£35,000 per annum


Hours: Permanent, Full time, Monday – Friday, 40 hours


Location: Kensington & Chelsea, West London


I am currently working with a registered Nursery and Therapy Centre located in the Kensington & Chelsea, West London area. They are operating as an Early Intervention Therapy Centre for children under the age of 5 with Autism and developmental delay. As part of their continued growth they have recently received their Ofsted registration for a 26-place nursery for children with Special Needs. They will specialise in Autism although welcome children with developmental delay and associated needs.


They are looking for a dynamic, dedicated and friendly Nursery Manager with SEND experience. The individual would work alongside their Clinical Director and Operations Manager to set up and manage the new nursery offering. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, proactive Manager with a strategic mind-set, looking for a challenging and exciting opportunity in a small organisation with ambitious growth plans. As a start-up, you will have the opportunity to shape the nursery into a centre of excellence for children with Special Needs.


The nursery is about to open and is located on Fulham Road. Great transport links are available around the nursery with Fulham Broadway only a 10 minute walk away. The nursery will take approximately 26 children between 2 - 5 years. The building was newly renovated in 2018 and custom built to meet the needs of Children with Special Needs and includes a small outdoor playground.


The nurseries are looking to hold interviews as soon as possible.


Key Responsibilities –


  • Ensure that children attending the nursery receive rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development
  • Ensure practice and provisions in the nursery meets the requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Adapted nursery curriculum planning for children with special needs
  • Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand, and when necessary follow Safeguarding Procedures
  • Promote and facilitate partnerships with parents/carers and other family members
  • Support the development of good practice with regards to special needs and inclusion
  • Support pre-school staff in delivering the Foundation Stage; ensure that provision in the nursery meets the requirements of the local authority in relation to nursery grant funding for three and four-year olds
  • Establish, develop and maintain a highly professional working relationship with relevant local authority department, regulatory bodies and other agencies
  • Supervision of staff and students, conducting regular staff assessments, recognising training needs, monitoring training and developing teamwork
  • Ensuring that the preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the nursery playrooms, kitchen and equipment are carried out according to the Policies & Procedures and risk assessments
  • Keeping and monitoring accident, incident and risk assessment records
  • Arranging and attending regular parents' evenings, publicity, open weekends and children's outings and ensuring effective marketing
  • Create a culture of self-evaluation and reflective practice throughout the nursery
  • A strategic-thinker with strong leadership skills 
  • Strong attention to detail


You MUST have the following -


  • Have a minimum 5 years post qualification experience within a childcare setting
  • Have a minimum 3 years-experience in Nursery Management
  • Great passion for child development and a good working knowledge of the EYFS 0-5 years
  • An organised, supportive personality.
  • Experience of working in a Management role, mentoring and leading staff and leading by example
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and Ofsted statutory guidance
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding
  • Knowledge and proven practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities
  • Ability to deliver a high standard of childcare
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work productively with pupils, colleagues, parents and outside agencies
  • Excellent planning, organising and time management skills
  • A fantastic understanding for how a Nursery works.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to work effectively in a team
  • A strategic-thinker with strong leadership skills 
  • Strong attention to detail

Salary is negotiable depending on your qualifications and experience - £32,000-£35,000 per annum.
