Job Description

This well established nursery situated in Sudbury Hill is looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their Toddler Room. The nursery is operational 52 weeks of the year. They are open Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 18:00 and cater for up to 105 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

The nursery is situated within a two story building and has five main play rooms which are age specific. The setting ensures that they support all the children’s individual needs and help them to reach their highest potential throughout their learning and development. The rooms are age appropriate and based around the children’s interest enabling them to enjoy a variety of activities. The nursery has access to a large secure garden which has a planting and growing area as well as an assortment of large play equipment and an outside classroom enabling the children to take their learning outside.

The position will be working with children aged 2-3 years old within the Toddler Room working with the other staff to ensure the room is run to a high standard in a safe and stimulating environment. You will be responsible for 5 key children and complete observations, planning and paper work for them, also ensuring all other children reach their developmental milestones at all times.

Your role will include:

  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Providing age appropriate activities for all the children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room and nursery
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room, garden and on outings
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Supporting children with nappy changes and toilet training
  • Developing each child’s fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination

All candidates must have:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
