Job Description

This OUTSTANDING nursery situated in Fortis Green is looking for motivated Nursery Nurse’s to join their Baby Room and Pre-School Room. The Nursery is operational all year round and are open Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00 and cater for up to 62 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

The nursery is purpose built on two floors with large indoor and outside play areas. The Nursery is split into 3 rooms, Babies, Toddlers and Pre-School. These positions will be working within the Baby room or the Pre-School room. You will work alongside the other staff ensuring that children reach their full potential planning through the EYFS and observing children’s development ensuring their learning is monitored and recorded in the learning journals. Your role within the Baby room will be supporting children in their first stages of development focusing on the Prime areas of development, Supporting with feeding, weening and changing. Your role within the Pre-School room with be encouraging children to become independent learners building on skills and becoming ready for school.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Being a key worker for a group of children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Support children with personal care routines of toilet training and independent feeding
  • Supporting children’s independence
  • Supporting children with preparation for school
  • Encouraging children with extending their understanding of healthy living providing them with a balanced diet and daily exercise routines.


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • The ability to work within a team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
