Job Description

An Outstanding Montessori School situated in Pinner is currently looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their expanding team. The nursery is operational 52 weeks a year and they are open Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00. The setting caters for 75 children a day aged between 3 months to 5 years old.

The setting is situated within a large converted building and has been recently refurbished enabling the growth of the nursery. They ensure all the children are reaching their highest potential, while using the EYFS curriculum and the Montessori Method. They have spacious rooms which are all age appropriate for the children to learn and develop at their own pace. They have a large garden for all the children to enjoy while learning about the environment and developing their communication skills with children of varied ages.

They have positions available working with all age groups, in either Baby Room, Toddler Room or Pre-School Room. Your role will be to ensure the children reach their highest potential while using the EYFS curriculum and the Montessori Method and supporting them with their development. You will be responsible for up to 6 key children and will need ensure they are given the opportunity to carry out child led activities throughout their routine.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum and Montessori Method
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Carrying out nappy changes and potty training for younger children
  • Supporting the children during meal times
  • Developing their fine motor skills with various activities
  • Providing challenges for the children to enhance their learning
  • Completing two year checks when working with this age group
  • Preparing the older children for school

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least one years’ experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS & Montessori
  • The ability to work well within a large team
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
