Job Description

Nursery situated in Wimbledon is looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their Pre-School Room. The Nursery is operational 52 weeks of the year and they are open Monday – Friday 07:30-18:30 and cater for up to 68 children aged between 3 months – 5 years old.

The setting is situated within a large purpose built building with four main rooms for all the children to enjoy. They have a large Baby Room, which focuses on the children’s senses and mobility. They have two Toddler Rooms, one for the younger toddlers and one for the older toddlers. This enables the children to learn and progress at their own pace. The Pre-School provides free flow for the children and also focus on preparing the children for school with various activities inside and out.

The position will be working with children aged 3 – 5 years old within the Pre-School Room and ensuring that the room is run to a high standard and all children achieve their highest potential. You will be responsible for up to 8 key children ensuring that all their individual needs are met and strong relationships are built and maintained with the parents and carers.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Planning and supervising activities like arts, crafts and cooking
  • Helping children to learn numeracy skills through activities such as counting games
  • Reading stories and providing activities to encourage childrens reading and literacy skills
  • Working closely with any health and social care professionals where necessary
  • To keep a proper record of achievement file on your key children, for parents/carers



All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal
  • Good organisational and timekeeping skills
  • The ability to work within a team
