Job Description

Nursery situated in Putney is looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their Baby Room. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed for the Christmas break. They are open Monday – Friday, 07:30 – 19:00 and cater for up to 57 children aged between 3 months – 5 years. They also provide an after school scheme for children up to 8 years old.

The nursery is situated within a converted house and has four large specific rooms to allow children to develop at their own pace. Each room is divided into areas including a book corner, dress up area and creative section to allow children to learn, explore and use their own imagination in line with the EYFS. The Baby room offers a lot of sensory activities for the children including a treasure chest with different materials so they can feel and explore the different textures. They have a large garden with all weather surfacing and climbing equipment as well as a separate baby garden allowing the younger children to crawl and socialize with children their age.

The position will be working with children aged 3 months – 2 years old within the Baby Room. You will be responsible for 5 key children and support them with weaning and potty training and ensure they reach their milestones throughout their learning.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the Baby Room
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities which are age appropriate
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room and nursery when required
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment at all times
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Supporting the children at meal times.
  • Carrying out sensory activities to enable them to know different textures
  • Nappy changes and toilet training
  • Supporting them in transition to solid foods


All candidates must have:

  • A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Experience of working with under 2’s
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication and organisation skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
