Job Description


A brand new nursery in Ham is looking for a part time Nursery nurse to join their team. The nursery is operational for 49 weeks a year and is closed for a week over Easter, Summer break and Christmas. They are open Monday - Friday 08:00 - 18:00 and cater for up to 40 children aged between 18 months – 5 years old.

The setting is situated within small building which has recently been converted into a nursery. The nursery has its own playground and playing fields for all the children in the nursery to extend their learning and development. The nursery has 2 rooms which consist of a Toddler room 18mths – 2 ½ years old and a Pre-School room 2 ½ to 5 years old. The nursery has regular trips to feed the ducks and participate in extra curricular activities which include weekly dance, language and Forest school.

The position is working with children aged 18 months – 2 ½ years old Monday – Friday 08:00 – 14:00 within the Toddler room, which caters for 22 children a day. You will need to make sure the paperwork and learning Journeys for your key children are completed to ensure they reach their individual developmental milestones.

Your role will include:

  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Assisting and supporting the children at meal times
  • Potty training and nappy changing
  • Ensuring the 2 year checks for your key children are completed
  • Developing the children’s language and assisting them with learning to share, take turns and following instructions


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 2 years relevant Early Years’ experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS & Safeguarding
  • Good verbal and written communication
