Job Description

This creative Nursery which has an integrated workspace for parents based in Farringdon, is currently recruiting for 4 highly motivated Nursery practitioners Level 2 or above to join their existing vibrant and expanding team. The Nursery is open Monday to Friday 08:00 – 18:00 all year round, they cater for children aged 3months to 2 years old.

The Nursery is situated a short walk from Farringdon Station and tailors for the needs of children under the age 2. It is set in an open plan room with a small story area, home corner and soft play. They provides a range of educational resources to meet the needs of the babies and they also have a separate sleeping room. The innovating setting will create career opportunities and it also enables parents to return to work with ease.

Your role as the Nursery Nurse is to provide high quality care for the under 2. You will be a key worker for a group of children building positive relationships with the children on a day to day basis and supporting them to feel settled and safe. You will be responsible for the planning of the activities through the EYFS curriculum. You will be supporting the babies in the early stages of their development, feeding, nappy changing, supporting children in their early communication skills, fine and gross motor skills and social skills.

Your role will include;

  • Providing high quality care for the under 2’s
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Carrying out observations and assessments
  • Ensuring children’s development journals are up to date
  • Be motivated and inspired to meet the needs of children, parents & families
  • Being a Key worker for a group of babies and toddlers
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with all children, parents and carers
  • Attending training courses and keeping up to date with legislation
  • Supporting children within the setting with additional needs, working within their IEP’s
  • Supporting under 2’s at meal times with feeding
  • Supporting babies and under 2’s with nappy changing and the beginning of toilet training
  • Supporting children to become independent and building their social skills
  • Working alongside other professionals from outside agencies
  • Carrying out risk assessments
  • Following policies and procedures
  • Being aware of Safeguarding procedures and following when necessary
  • Working as part of a team & independently
  • Planning, preparing and implementing stimulating activities that include arts, crafts and messy play
  • Supporting children in their play and learning through fine and gross motor skills
  • Helping children to develop their skills with their first sounds and words
  • Ensuring a safe and secure environment
  • Being able to maintain high standards of care and education

All Candidate must have:

  • A Minimum of an NVQ Level 2 or above in Child Care & Education or equivalent
  • At least 2 years’ experience of working within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent Knowledge of the EYFS Curriculum and Safeguarding
  • Excellent Knowledge of Ofsted Regulations
  • Experience and passion working with the under two’s
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • The ability to use your own initiative
  • The ability to work in partnership with parents
  • Be able to work well within a team
  • Be enthusiastic & energetic
