Job Description

Outstanding nursery situated in Willesden Green is looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their Pre-School Room. The nursery is operational 52 weeks of the year. They are open Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 18:00 and cater for 25 children aged between 1 – 5 years old.

The nursery is situated within a historical building and has a large space which is divided into different sections including a story corner with props to enhance the children’s imagination and creative areas so they can express their ideas. There is a separate Toddler area so that the younger children can develop at their own pace. The setting offers optional extra curriculum activities in line with the EYFS to increase the children’s confidence. There is a secure outdoor area with a variety of toys for children to play with, challenging them physically and mentally.

The position will be working with children aged 3-5 years old within the Pre-School Room ensuring along with the other staff that the room is run to a high standard. You will be responsible for 6 key children and will encourage the children’s interaction, responsibility and respect.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing age appropriate activities for all the children
  • Preparing the children for Primary School
  • Encouraging children’s independence
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Teaching the children Jolly Phonics and numbers

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • The ability to work within a small team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
