Job Description

Nursery situated in Teddington is looking for a dedicated Nursery Nurse to join their Toddler Room. The nursery is operational 52 weeks of the year excluding Bank Holidays. They are open Monday-Friday 07:45 -18:15 and cater for up to 80 children aged between 3 months - 5 years old.

The Nursery is situated in a purpose built setting and is split into three rooms. The baby room caters for children aged 3 months – 18 months and has a separate nappy changing room and milk kitchen. The children have access to a variety of equipment which include push and pull toys, sand and water, holistic baskets and small construction toys. The Toddler room caters for children aged 18 month – 2 years and has its own bathroom and nappy changing room. The main playroom is split into areas that include a role play area where the children can develop their imagination and have access to sand and water play. The Pre-School room which caters for children aged 3 – 5 years, is divided into separate areas that enables opportunities for the children to explore, they provide age appropriate resources which include a role play area, messy, creative and ICT areas with various remote control toys. All the rooms have access to an outdoor garden which include a planting and digging area, outdoor classroom, sand and water play and sensory corner and go on regular outing  to local park.

The role will be working with children ages 18 Months to 2 years old within the Toddler Room. The room caters for up to 12 children. You will have up to 8 key children and be responsible for completing their observations, planning and monitor their development using the EYFS.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP
  • Assisting and supporting the children at meal times and self-serving
  • Assisting the children with sharing and turn taking
  • Nappy changing and potty training
  • Completing 2 years check
  • Supporting the children with learning about colours,numbers and basic Mathematics
  • Supporting the children with their Language skills through stories and singing
  • Completing the children’s progress trackers
  • Ensuring Hygiene standards are kept to a high level at all times
  • Completing daily risk assessment indoors and out




All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within the Early years setting
  • The ability to work in a team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Safeguarding
  • Experience with working with Toddler aged children
  • Great verbal and communication skills
