Job Description

Well established Nursery are currently seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Nursery Nurse to join their team in Croydon, they are operational 51 weeks of the year and closed over the Christmas break. The setting is open Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00 and cater for up to 42 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

The Nursery is situated within a large converted house and has four main age based rooms as well as a large enclosed outdoor area to promote free flow play.  

The position will be working with children aged 1 – 2 years old within the Toddler Room and ensuring that all children are happy and stimulated throughout the day. You will be responsible for up to 6 key children and will need to ensure their files are kept up to date and all observations completed in a timely manner as well as building strong relationships with parents and carers.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Working with parents/carers of special needs children to give full integration in the Setting
  • Preparing and completing activities to suit each childs stage of development
  • Being prepared to help where needed throughout the nursery, including certain domestic tasks i.e preparation of meals and snacks
  • Ensuring all children are collected by someone known to the nursery
  • Keeping an accurate record of achievement file on your key children


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal
  • The ability to work within a team
  • Enthusiastic about learning and gaining new skills through teamwork and training opportunities
  • A positive approach to inclusive practice, with children and colleagues
