Nursery Nurse needed in Hanwell

This nursery situated in Hanwell is looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their Toddler team. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closing for Christmas and all Bank Holidays. They are open Monday – Friday 08:00-18:00 and they cater for up to 26 children aged between 2 years – 5 years old.

The nursery is situated within a large spacious hall which has been established for over 25 years. The setting has one large spacious room for all children to learn and play together. The room has age appropriate resources allowing the staff to create a high level of fun activities to develop the children’s learning. They have a large garden for all children to explore the outside space and different environment, along with an exciting Jungle Area for the children to explore. The children are given the opportunity to take part in extracurricular activities. The nursery has an onsite chef who tailors the meals to suit the individual dietary requirements of the children. The nursery also works closely with the local school to ensure a smooth transition from nursery to School environment.  

The position will be working with children aged 2-3 years old within the Toddler team. Your responsibilities will include the day to day routine of the room ensuring all children are stimulated through exciting activities. You will be responsible for 4 Key Children and will need to ensure all their milestones are met.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with all children, parents and staff
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Completing Two year checks to a high standard
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Ensuring all observations, planning and Key Children files are up to date
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Supporting children with additional needs
  • Attending parents evenings and staff meetings
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Effective team work to ensure the room runs smoothly
  • Developing the children’s sensory exploration through sand, water and messy play activities
  • Using effective teaching to a high standard to develop their communication skills
  • Introducing the children to different celebrations and cultures from around the world 
  • Developing the children’s fine and gross motor skills; mark making, building towers, running games etc
  • Ensuring their hygiene routines are of a high standard when helping the children through toilet training
  • Helping the younger children to settle into the nursery through exciting and new activities

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
