Job Description

Day Nursery situated in Kennington is looking for an experienced Nursery Nurse to join their professional and expanding team within the Baby Room. The Nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed over the Christmas break. They are open Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00 and cater for up to 38 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

The setting is situated within a large church hall on the ground floor. The hall is divided into two age appropriate areas for the Under Two’s and the Pre-Schoolers each offering stimulating age appropriate activities. The setting also benefits from its own large outdoor area in which the children are given the freedom to explore and learn through play.

The position will be working with children aged 3 months – 2 years within the Baby Room and ensuring that the room is run to a high standard and assisting the other staff within the room. You will be responsible for up to 3 key children and will need to ensure their observations and folders are completed on a regular basis.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Helping children at meal times and then tidy and clear away afterwards following each childs weaning plans in accordance with parents wishes
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Maintain a clean and tidy nursery and garden area and ensure books, toys and equipment are clean and in good order
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Following nappy changing plans and routines
  • Following the nursery’s policy and procedures at all times
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • An up to date First Aid Certificate
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal
  • The ability to work in a team
