Nursery Nurse needed in Ladbroke Grove

This nursery situated in Ladbroke Grove is looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their Baby Room. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closing for Christmas and all Bank Holidays. They are open Monday – Friday 07:30-18:00, with an option of an early drop off and they cater for up to 70 children aged between 3 months – 5 years old.

The nursery is situated within a converted house which has been established for 10 years. The setting is split over two floors with the Baby Room and Toddler Room on the ground floor and the Pre-School on the first floor. All rooms are equipped with a high standard of age appropriate resources allowing the staff to create a high level of fun activities to develop the children’s learning. There is also a large Art room where the children can explore creatively. The children have the opportunity to explore two large outdoor spaces, one garden which is accessible directly from their room encouraging free flow and one which is a large shared space for the children to explore and play together.  The children are given the opportunity to take part in weekly extracurricular activities.

The position will be working with children aged 3 months – 2 years old within the Baby Room. Your responsibilities will include the day to day routine of the room ensuring all children are stimulated through exciting activities. You will be responsible for 4 Key Children and will need to ensure all their milestones are met. The Baby Room is a large space where the Babies are able to explore freely where the resources are on a low level encouraging them to develop their own interests. The Baby Room has a separate cot room and nappy changing area. The room focuses on sensory play which enables the children to explore sounds and textures. The Baby Room also has a separate role-play area where the Babies can begin to develop their imaginations.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with all children, parents and staff
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Ensuring all observations, planning and Key Children files are up to date
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Supporting children with additional needs
  • Attending parents evenings and staff meetings
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Effective team work to ensure the room runs smoothly
  • Developing the children’s sensory exploration through sand, water and messy play activities
  • Using effective teaching to a high standard to begin to develop their communication skills through singing nursery rhymes and reading stories
  • Introducing the children to different celebrations and cultures from around the world 
  • Developing the children’s fine and gross motor skills; crawling, clapping, reaching and grabbing for toys, walking, grasping mark making tools to create their own marks

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
