Baby Room Leader needed in South Croydon


This nursery situated in South Croydon is looking for two experienced Level 3’s to join their team. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed over the Christmas break. They are open Monday – Friday 08:00-18:00 and cater for up to 36 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

This nursery is situated within a large converted house and has been operational since 2013. The nursery describes themselves as a home from home setting, which enables them to offer children the very best start and develop confidence, independence, knowledge and understanding to support their transition to school. The nursery has three rooms. Pre-school is over two open plan rooms where children enjoy a wide range of extra-curricular activities such as sing and sign and gymnastics. Toddlers is a large room with a free flow garden attached and within the Toddler room the children start to learn basic 2d Shapes and Colours. Babies is on the top floor over 3 open plan rooms, a Play room, Sleep room, and a Messy/Meal room. The Play room and Messy room are free flow during the day so the children can explore all areas.  They also have a large outdoor play area for the children to explore and enjoy.

The position will be working across all age groups to providing a high standard of learning and development for all the children in the setting. You will be responsible for key children and you will need to ensure the children are developing in line with the EYFS curriculum and reaching their development milestones.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Supporting both parents and children during settling process
  • Changing nappies
  • Supporting toilet training
  • Supporting during mealtimes


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a small team
