Job Description

Family run private Day Nursery in Sydenham are currently looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their Pre-School room. The setting is operational Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 18:00, 50 weeks of the year and cater for up to 52 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

The Setting has three age based rooms with an additional Sleep room and soft play area. They also benefit from having a large outdoor space which is divided into a two separate areas for the babies and over 2’s.   

This full time position will be working with children aged 3 – 5 years, you will be responsible for up to 8 key children and will need to ensure strong relationships are built with both the parents and children. You must be confident in your planning and also be able to use your initiative to plan inspiring activities based on the childrens interests.

Your role will include:

  • Contributing to a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children
  • Helping to implement the daily routines in the room
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Being flexible in regards to working practices of the Nursery being prepared to help where needed
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal
  • Good organisational, record keeping and planning skills
  • Passion and enthusiasm for working within the Early Years
