Job Description

Well established nursery in East Dulwich are currently looking for Nursery Nurses and Assistants to join their growing team. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, Monday to Friday 07:30 – 18:30 and caters for children aged 3 months to 5 years old.

The Setting is based within a large house on the outskirts of East Dulwich and creates a homely atmosphere for the children to learn and develop at their own pace. The Nursery pride themselves on providing high quality emotional and physical support for all the children in their care and build strong relationships with parents.

This position will be working with children aged 3 months – 5 years old and you will be responsible for up to six key children ensuring that all observations are completed on a regular basis and daily reports given to parents.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring staff are keeping accurate and up to date records
  • Being an excellent role model to others in the room
  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Caring for children recognising and catering for their individuality and in accordance with the settings policies and procedures
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum focusing on the prime areas of learning
  • Carrying out under two checks
  • Encouraging the children and motivating their learning
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Exercising a general duty of care for work colleagues and to be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment
  • Working alongside the Manager and staff to ensure that the vision, philosophy and objectives of the nursery are fulfilled
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy areas and ensuring books, toys and equipment are clean and in good order


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Previous SENCO experience
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Safeguarding
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal
