Job Description

This new nursery situated in Dulwich is looking for two Nursery Practitioners, one to join their Baby Room and one to join their Toddler Room. The nursery is operational 50 weeks of the year, closed over the Christmas break and also for a few training days over the year. They are open Monday – Friday from 07:30 – 18:30 and cater for up to 36 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

The nursery is situated within a one story building in the centre of Dulwich and has been operational since 2015. They ensure that they provide the children with stimulating age appropriate activities and ensure they support all the children’s individual needs. The setting has two main play rooms which are separated into two age groups, one room for the 3 months – 2 year olds and one for the 2 – 5 year olds. They also have a large garden for the children to play in along with the nearby park allowing them access to larger surroundings with various plants and wildlife.

One position will be working with children aged 3 months to 2 year olds within their Baby Room and the other will be working with children aged 2 – 3 years old in their main room. You will be responsible for up to 6 key children and will need to work in partnership with the other staff to ensure the children reach their highest potential throughout their development and ensure each child meets their development milestones.

Your role will include:

  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Providing high quality care for all the children within the setting
  • Carrying out daily observations for the children & planning their next steps
  • Using the EYFS curriculum to ensure they reach their developmental milestones
  • Working confidently with the other staff and ensuring the children’s learning is paramount
  • Communicating with parents regarding their child’s development
  • Carrying out risk assessments in the room and garden
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Attending staff and parent meetings
  • Working confidently with the other staff and ensuring the children’s learning is paramount
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Assisting with nappy changes and toilet training
  • Preparing the older children and getting them ready for school

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • The ability to lead a small team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
