Early Years Practitioner needed in Walton- on-Thames

A well-established Nursery situated in Walton-on-Thames is looking for a Nursery Practitioner to join their team. The Nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed for Bank Holidays and a week at Christmas and are open Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 18:00 and cater for up to 120 children aged between 3 months – 5 years old.

The setting is purpose built and based on one level it has three rooms. The baby room has 1 main room with a separate cot room, milk kitchen and bathroom and caters for the 3months – 2 years old they also have free flow to their own garden. The toddler room caters for 2- 3 years old which has  and a Pre-school for 3 – 5 years old with a strong ethos on ensuring children are provided with a holistic approach and staff support each child with their individual needs and development through the activities which are planned around their interests. The children all have free flow into their own garden which also has an outdoor classroom.

The successful Nursery Practitioner you will be working with the 2 - 5 years old and be required to work 40 hours a week on a shift rotation basis. You will need to make sure the paperwork and learning journeys for your key children are completed to ensure they reach their individual developmental milestones.

Your role will include:

  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Implementing the EYFS Curriculum daily
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents
  • Following the Nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Completing 2 year checks and tracking forms
  • Assisting and supporting the children at meal times
  • Potty training and nappy changing
  • Developing the children’s language and assisting them with learning to share, take turns and following instructions


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant Early Years experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS & Safeguarding
  • Good verbal and written communication
