Job Description

Nursery situated in Godalming is looking for a Nursery Practitioner to join their Toddler Room. The nursery is operational 52 weeks of the year. They are open Monday – Friday 7:00-18:30 and cater for 96 children aged between 3 months – 5 years old.

The nursery is situated within a converted building across two floors. The setting has 4 rooms each age specific with their own bathroom or changing facilities. The rooms are each divided into areas including a story corner, construction area, role play and crafts section which allows children to learn and explore based around the EYFS.    There is also a secure outdoor garden which promotes all areas of learning including lettering and numeracy with numbers and letters painted on the ground. The garden also allows children to develop good physical skills and coordination by climbing and balancing on equipment.

The position will be working with children aged 2-3 years old within the Toddler Room and ensuring, with the other staff that the room is a safe and stimulating environment for all the children. You will be responsible for 4 key children and be encouraging the children to become more self-reliant, preparing them for their journey into Pre-School.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Providing exciting age appropriate activities for all the children
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room and nursery
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room, garden and on outings
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Encouraging  the children to serve themselves at meal times
  • Helping the children to start to letter write and learn their numbers


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
