Nursery Practitioner needed in Teddington

Nursery situated in Teddington is looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their Baby Room. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed over the Christmas break and bank holidays. They are open Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00 and cater for up to 58 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

The nursery is situated within a large converted building which is split into three age appropriate rooms over two floors. The under two`s is an open plan room which is situated on the first floor. The room is divided into areas which includes a sensory corner, mark making area and cosy corner. The room has its own built in nappy changing unit and a separate milk kitchen. The two to three`s room which is situated on the ground floor has its own area where the children can access various equipment to support their individual needs, it also has a separate nappy room and toilet facilities for potty training.. The Pre-School is in the larger room on the ground floor and is split into different areas which include its own art studio and role play unit with a dark den.  The setting has an enclosed outdoor area with its own raised planters where they grow their own vegetables. The children also benefit from regular visits to the local park. 

The successful candidate will be working within the Baby Room with children aged 3 months to 2 years old which can take up to 12 children. As a Nursery Practitioner you will provide a safe and stimulating environment for your key children to thrive and develop through the activities you provide. You will be responsible for completing observations, planning and next steps for your 6 key children and tracking their progress.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum focusing on the Prime Areas
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Nappy Changing and potty training
  • Supporting the youngest children and parents with weaning
  • Developing their Physical development by supporting with crawling and walking
  • Carrying out sensory activities
  • Completing 2 year checks
  • Ensuring Hygiene standards are kept to a high level at all times
  • Developing the children’s fine and gross motor skills
  • Developing the children’s early stages of communication through singing nursery rhymes and reading books





All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Safeguarding
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of the key worker system
