Job Description

This Setting situated in Croydon is looking for a permanent childcare practitioner to join their team.  The setting is operational for 51 weeks of the year and is open Monday to Friday, from 07.45 -18.30 (37.5hrs a week) and you will be looking after children from 2 – 11 years.  Facilities include a craft room, an IT room, soft play and sensory rooms. The Out of School children have many different and dedicated areas in which to play and the Early Years' children are cared for in age groups across five different rooms - each with their own outside play area. We also have a decked balcony, gardens and an adventure playground.  The Setting is easily accessible and has great transport links and parking is available.  They follow the EYFS curriculum and positive relationships between parents and staff are encouraged at all times to ensure they maintain a positive co-operative environment for the best interests of the children.

You will need to ensure the children are given the opportunity to carry out child led activities throughout their routine and following the ‘foundation stage’ preparing them for their eventual move to school , fostering independence and helping the children reach their highest potential throughout their learning and development.

Your role will include:

  • Must be a qualified driver over 21 – you will need to drive a mini-bus
  • During term time you will be with 2-5 year olds in the mornings, rest of the time with 4-11 years
  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum and leading planning meetings
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the setting  
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the Nursery policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Preparing the children for the move to school
  • Strong emphasis on the 3 main areas of learning
  • Encourage the children’s writing

 

All candidates must have:

  • A driving licence (as will be required to drive a mini-bus)
  • Qualification in Childcare or experience within a childcare setting (or willingness to train)
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Satisfactory verbal & written communication skills
  • Enthusiasm, self motivation & ability to work on your own initiative and be a good team player
  • Ability & willingness to work shifts (eg: earlies 7:45am – lates 6:30pm finish)
  • The ability to work within a large team
  • Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS, Child Protection & Safeguarding
  • Great interpersonal skills
