Early Years Practitioner needed in Twickenham

Day Nursery situated in Twickenham is currently seeking a Nursery Nurse to join their Baby Room. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed over the Christmas break and Bank Holidays. They are open Monday – Friday, 07:30 – 18:30 and cater for up to 48 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

The Nursery is situated within a converted church and they aim to provide a wide range of opportunities for learning in a caring and stimulating environment. The setting is split into 3 rooms with a large main playroom for the 3-5’s along with three separate rooms for the under 3 year olds. Including a separate milk kitchen and sleep room. Children are encouraged to visit other rooms to build friendships and social development throughout all the age groups. They have a garden which has a variety of outdoor equipment which allows all the children to explore their natural environment

The successful candidate will be working within the Baby Room with children aged 3 – 18 months old and have sound knowledge of the EYFS Curriculum with focus on the Prime Areas. You will provide a safe and stimulating environment for your key children to thrive and develop through the activities you provide. You will be responsible for completing observations, planning and next steps for your key children and tracking their progress.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Effective team work to ensure the room runs to a high standard
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Assisting the Children with feeding and weaning
  • Doing regular Nappy changing
  • Developing their Physical development by supporting and walking
  • Carrying out sensory activities such as messy play ,sand and water activities
  • Developing their fine and gross motor skills through mark making and block play
  • Supporting the parents with advice on weaning and routines
  • Ensuring the younger babies are offered plenty of tummy time
  • Supporting the children through regular circle times to develop early language and interaction skills

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Curriculum
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work in a team
  • Good working knowledge of Safeguarding
