Job Description

This outstanding nursery situated close to Epsom is looking for a Nursery Practitioner to join their team. The nursery has been operational for 24 years and provides care for children 52 weeks of the year. They are open Monday – Friday 08:00-18:00 and cater for up to 90 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

The nursery is situated within a converted house and has a home from home feel and the children’s care is paramount to staff. They provide 4 large rooms for children to learn and develop at their own pace with age appropriate toys and equipment. They also offer a large outdoor space ensuring the children have the freedom to explore the environment around them. They have been operational since 1999 and have received OUTSTANDING by Ofsted in their 2018 inspection. They ensure the children meet their highest potential by ensuring children’s care, learning and development is monitored and they are given ample opportunity to develop at their own pace.  

They are currently looking for a Nursery Practitioner to join their team, they are looking for someone with experience within Childcare either with a qualification or with the hope to complete a qualification with their support. You would be responsible for supporting a group of key children and ensuring their individual needs are met at all times and working within a team to maintain the Outstanding status the nursery has achieved.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Carrying out nappy changes and supporting with potty training
  • Supporting early crawlers and walkers
  • Ensuring sensory activities are provided for the younger children to develop using their senses
  • Providing ample opportunity for children to progress with their communication
  • Promoting positive behaviour
  • Developing their early knowledge of shape and space recognition
  • Supporting the children develop relationships with their peers
  • Completing 2 year checks
  • Supporting Pre-schoolers in their preparation for school
  • Teaching the children manners
  • Helping children resolve problems
  • Developing their writing and number skills prior to school
  • Supporting children with IEP’s


All candidates must have:

  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • An NVQ Level 2 or 3 is desired but not essential
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a team
  • A passion for working within the Early Years
