Job Description

This outstanding nursery situated in Islington is looking for two nursery practitioners to join their team. They are looking for one Level 3 qualified practitioner for their Baby Room and one Level 2 or above for their Toddler Room. The nursery is operational 52 weeks of the year. They are open Monday – Friday 07:30-19:00 and cater for up to 120 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

The nursery is situated within a large setting and was opened in 1997, the setting ensures that they support all the children’s individual needs and help them to reach their highest potential throughout their learning and development. The nursery follows the EYFS alongside using the Montessori Method.  They offer age appropriate rooms to ensure the children have activities to support them to learn at their own pace. They also provide a large garden for the children to learn and explore the environment.  

They currently have two positions available, one position is for a Level 3 practitioner working within the Baby Room and the other position is for a Level 2 or above practitioner to work within their Toddler Room. You will be responsible for key children, ensuring their individual needs are met at all times while ensuring they are reaching their highest potential throughout their learning.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum and Montessori Method
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Carrying out nappy changes and supporting with potty training
  • Supporting early crawlers and walkers
  • Ensuring sensory activities are provided for the younger children to develop using their senses
  • Providing ample opportunity for children to progress with their communication
  • Promoting positive behaviour
  • Developing their early knowledge of shape and space recognition
  • Supporting the children develop relationships with their peers
  • Completing 2 year checks
  • Supporting children with IEP’s

 

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS & Montessori Method
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
  • A passion for working within the Early Years
