Job Description

Day Nursery in Purley is currently seeking Qualified Level 2 & 3 Nursery practitioners.  The setting is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed over the Christmas break. They are open Monday – Friday, 07:45 – 18:00 and cater for up to 67 children aged between 3 months and 5 years.

 

The Setting is situated within a converted house with 6 large age based rooms and also has a separate baby unit. The children all share access to a large enclosed outdoor area as well as two covered garden areas to promote free flow play all year round.

 

The Nursery are currently looking for practitioners to work in both the Toddler and Pre-School Rooms with children aged 2 – 5 years.

Your role will include:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with the children, parents and staff
  • Providing high quality care for all the children within the nursery
  • Planning educational and exciting activities for all the children
  • Observing the children’s development using the EYFS and planning their next steps
  • Supporting the other staff in the room
  • Assisting with settling in of new children and supporting the parents throughout
  • Speaking to parents/guardians on a regular basis regarding their child’s development
  • Discussing the children’s development with outside agencies when required
  • Understanding each child’s individual needs and use IEP’s were necessary
  • Supporting children with EAL and children with additional needs
  • Carrying out risk assessments throughout the nursery
  • Participating in parent and staff meetings
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Supporting the children with crawling and walking
  • Changing and washing children following all nappy changing routines
  • Developing their communication skills

 

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Curriculum
  • Great communication skills both written & verbal
