Job Description

Nursery situated in Twickenham is looking for a Part Time Nursery Nurse to join their Pre-School Room. The nursery is operational 49 weeks of the year, closed over the Easter and Christmas break and a week in the summer. They are open Monday – Friday 07:45 – 18:00 and cater for up to 40 children aged between 18 months – 5 years.

The nursery is situated within a large one storey building and has two spacious rooms for the children to enjoy, which have age appropriate equipment and activities set out for the children each day. The setting ensures that each child reaches their highest potential by supporting their individual needs throughout their learning and development. They have a large outdoor play area and additional land for the children to explore the different environments and carry out Forest School activities. The setting also provides extra curricular activities such as language lessons, music and much more.

The position will be working with children aged 3 – 5 years old within the Pre-School Room, Monday to Friday 08:00 – 14:00 and you will need to ensure that the children meet their developmental milestones throughout their development and preparing them prior to progressing onto school.

Your role will include:

  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Assisting and supporting the children at meal times
  • Preparing the children for the transition to school
  • Carrying out Jolly Phonics as part of the daily routine
  • Developing their writing skills


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Safeguarding
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a team
