Job Description
Nursery situated in Kew is looking for a Qualified Teacher to join their Pre-School Room. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed for the Christmas break. They are open Monday – Friday 08:00-18:00 and cater for up to 28 children a day aged between 3 months – 5 years old.
The nursery is situated within a spacious converted house. The setting is split into three large rooms which are age specific and set out to enhance the children’s development. The ground floor is open planned allowing a smooth transition between the Baby Room and Toddler Room and enabling them to play together. The first floor caters for the Pre-School children and is set up to encourage them to prepare for school with a large amount of independent learning and free flow. There is also a secluded all weather garden allowing the children to explore on various outdoor equipment
The position will be working with children aged 3 – 5 year olds within the Pre-School Room. You will be responsible for up to 7 key children and help to build the children’s confidence, independence and social skills to prepare them for the move onto school.

Your role will include:
- Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
- Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
- Building and maintaining good relationships with children, parents and staff
- Implementing the EYFS curriculum
- Providing exciting activities which are age appropriate for all the children
- Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
- Assisting and supporting other staff within the room.
- Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
- Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
- Completing risk assessments within the room, garden and on outings
- Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
- Attending parent and staff meetings
- Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
- Preparing the older children for school
- Using Jolly Phonics and develop their hand writing daily
All candidates must have:
- QTS is desired
- OR NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
- At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
- The ability to work within a small team
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
- Great communication skills
