Job Description

A well established Community Nursery situated in Tottenham is looking for a Nursery Nurse to lead their Toddler Room. The Nursery is operational 48 weeks of the year closing over the Eater and Christmas breaks. They are open Monday to Friday 7.30am to 6.30 and cater for up to 60 children between the ages of 3 months to 5 years.

Situated in the heard of Tottenham, the Nursery prides itself in providing exceptional care to all children who attend and offering support to the local community, with regular workshops and support groups for Parents/Carers. The setting consists of two large rooms, a Pre-School Room and Baby and Toddler Room which is split into two age appropriate areas. A large outdoor area is available to all children with various climbing facilities and tricycles as well as a soft play area for the Babies.

The position of Room Leader involves managing a team of 10 Practitioners to ensure a high standard of care and education is delivered in line with the EYFS curriculum. The room caters for up to 30 children and aged 18 months to 2 years and you will be responsible for overseeing all children’s records.

Your role will include:

  • Leading the Toddler Room staff and ensuring a friendly, caring and relaxing environment is encouraged
  • Ensuring daily routines are adhered to and records are kept up to date
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Ensuring children get the best start in life by working in close partnership with parents/carers to develop independence, confidence and self esteem, building children’s resilience and well being
  • Following the Nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring hygiene standards are enforced at all times
  • Attending parent and staff meetings and when required
  • Your role will include encouraging Toddlers with potty training and developing social skills during meal times
  • Encouraging Toddlers to develop and build confidence through EYFS orientated activities and encouraging skills such as speaking, sharing, listening and interaction

All candidates must have:

  • A NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • Previous Room Leader experience (this is not essential)
  • Sound knowledge of the EYFS
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • The ability to lead a team
