Job Description

This well established nursery situated in Walton is looking for a Room Leader to join their Toddler Room. The nursery is operational 52 weeks of the year. They are open Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00 and cater for up to 56 children a day aged between 2 – 5 years old.

The nursery is situated within a large building and they ensures that all the children’s individual needs are met and help them to reach their highest potential throughout their learning and development both with the EYFS and the Montessori method. The setting has two main playrooms which are age appropriate, one for the 2-3 year olds and one for the 3 – 5 year olds. They have age appropriate equipment which is heavily influenced by the Montessori method. They also have a large outdoor play area for all the children to enable them to explore the environment.

The position will be working with children aged 2 – 3 year olds within the Toddler Room and ensuring that the room is run to a high standard and assisting the other staff within the room with all their paperwork. You will be responsible for up to 10 key children and you will need to ensure they have time to complete child led activities during each day. You will also need to assist the children with their communication and support them in each aspect of their development.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Using the Montessori method daily
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Carrying out 2 year checks on the children as and when needed
  • Assisting to develop their verbal communication
  • Supporting their hand eye coordination
  • Nappy changes and toilet training

All candidates must have:

  • A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • A Diploma in Montessori is desired
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • The ability to lead a small team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
