Job Description

A well established nursery situated in Fulham is looking for a Room Manager to join their Baby Room. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed over the Christmas break. They are open Monday – Friday, 07:30- 18:30 and cater for 90 children aged between 3 months – 5 years old.

The nursery is situated within a converted three storey building and has seven base rooms some of which are age specific as well as communal rooms so children can mix and play together. They also provide extracurricular lessons enabling the children to enjoy a wider range of activities such as music and sport. They have   a large sensory area for the younger children so they can touch and explore the world around them and also a separate sleep room to ensure they have a quiet area to sleep.

The position will be working with children aged 3 months – 2 years old within the Baby Room, ensuring that the room is run to a high standard and leading and mentoring the other staff in the room. You will be responsible for 5 key children and help to make sure all children meet their milestones throughout their development.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing age appropriate activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Leading and encouraging room staff
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Liaising with the Manager and Deputy on a daily basis
  • Completing risk assessments within the room, garden and on trips
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Weaning and potty training
  • Developing the children’s hand eye coordination
  • Supporting the children at meal times
  • Bottle feeding if necessary

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • Desired Room Leader experience
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Experience working with children of all ages
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to lead a small team
