Job Description

This nursery situated in Addlestone is currently looking for a Room Leader to join their Toddler Room. The nursery is operational 51 weeks a year, closed for the Christmas break. They are open Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 18:30 and cater for up to 75 children aged between 3 months – 5 years old.

The nursery is situated within a converted building and has been re-developed to create a spacious environment for the children to learn. They offer three age appropriate rooms for all the children to enjoy, along with a separate sensory room and soft play room, as well as a large garden to allow the children to experience different environments and develop their learning. The setting also provides extra-curricular activities such as Music & Movement and Language lessons.

This position will be working with children aged 2 – 3 years old within their Toddler Room. You must ensure the busy room is run to a high standard and assist the staff with ensuring all the children’s individual needs are met, along with your own key children’s.

Your role will include:

  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Providing high quality care for all the children within the setting
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment at all times
  • Planning exciting activities in line with the EYFS Curriculum
  • Carrying out regular observations and planning the children’s next steps
  • Completing 2 year old checks as and when needed
  • Understanding each child’s individual needs and dietary requirements
  • Keeping all information regarding the children confidential
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the setting
  • Supporting and supervising other staff and students
  • Working in partnership with parents
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures
  • Participating in regular staff and parent meetings
  • Carrying out nappy changes and supporting potty training
  • Developing the children’s social and emotional skills at all times

All candidates must have:

  • A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • A recent Paediatric First Aid Certificate is desired
  • At least 1 years previous Early Years experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS & Safeguarding
  • Knowledge of SEN & Childcare Act 2006
  • The ability to work well within a team
  • Flexibility and be able to take on additional responsibilities
