 Room Leader and Nursery Nurse needed in Sipson

Nursery situated in Sipson is looking for a Room Leader to join their Toddler Room and Nursery Nurse to join their Pre-School. The nursery is operational 50 weeks of the year, closed on Bank holidays and Christmas break. They are open Monday – Friday 07:15-18:30 and cater for up to 200 children aged between 3 months – 5 years old

The nursery is situated within a large converted house. The nursery is split over three floors, babies and toddlers on the ground and first floor and the Pre-School, they also have 2 additional rooms on the top floor. The nursery has a very large garden with a separate area for the babies, where the children can interact with each other and explore their outdoor environment.

The Room Leader position will be working with children aged 18 months to 2 years old within the Toddler Room and caters for up to 25 children, The Nursery Nurse role will be working with children aged 3-5 years old within the Pre-School room and caters for up to 70 children. You will ensure that the room is run to a high standard and assist the other staff within the room. You will be responsible for up to 10 key children and ensure all their developmental needs are met in line with the EYFS.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Encouraging mark making, messy play and assisting in developing language skills
  • Nappy changing and Potty training
  • Assisting and supporting the children at meal times
  • Preparing the children for the transition to school (Pre-School)
  • Developing the Children’s writing and Listening Skills (Pre-School)



All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • The ability to lead a team (Room Leader only)
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Safeguarding
  • Great written and Verbal communication skills
