Job Description

A well-established Nursery situated in Twickenham is currently seeking a Room Leader and Nursery Nurse to join their team. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year, closed over the Christmas break and Bank Holidays. They are open Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 18:00 and cater for up to 60 children aged between 3 months – 5 years.

The Nursery is situated within a purpose built setting and they aim to provide a wide range of opportunities for learning in a caring and stimulating environment. The setting is split over two floors with a large main playroom for the 3-5 years on the first floor which includes an ICT area with a smart table and the staff ensure the children focus on activities in preparation for school. The ground floor is split into 3 rooms. The Baby Unit is a spacious room which caters for 3 months to 18 months old and has a separate nappy room and milk kitchen. The Toddler Room which caters for 18 months to 2 years which is split into sections and include a messy play area, cosy corner and role play. The nursery room caters for 2 -3 years old and includes a sand and water area and a creative arts and design area. The children have access to a large garden area which includes a messy kitchen and planting area and a raised section with a natural slide and climbing frame for the children to develop their gross motor skills.

The successful candidates will be working in the Toddler Room with children aged 18 months to 2 years old and caters for up to 12 children. You will be expected to work 40 hours a week on a flexible rotational shift between the hours of 08:00 to 18:00. Both the Room Leader and Nursery Nurse will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of Care is delivered in line with the EYFS Curriculum. You will be responsible for up to 6 Key Children and you will need to monitor their progress. The Room Leader you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the room as well as supporting the staff in the room.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Ensuring the room is run to high standard at all times
  • Ensuring the children are progressing in line with their milestones
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Supporting the staff in your room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Carrying out daily Risk Assessments
  • Following and implementing the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the room
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Doing regular nappy changing
  • Completing 2 year checks and tracking forms
  • Assisting and supporting the children at meal times
  • Developing the children’s language and assisting them with learning to share, take turns and following instructions

 

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 or higher in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years’ experience in leading a team ( Room Leader only)
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Curriculum
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Safeguarding
