Job Description

This brand new nursery situated in the heart of Roehampton Village is looking for a Room Leader to join their Pre-School room. The nursery is operational 49 weeks of the year and is closed a week over Easter, Christmas and summer. They are open Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00 and cater for up to 57 children aged between 1 – 5 years old.

The nursery is situated within a large building and has recently opened as a nursery. The setting ensures that they support all the children’s individual needs and help them to reach their highest potential throughout their learning and development. The nursery ensures the Pre-School have free-flow at all times allowing them constant access to a large garden and messy area. They also take the children on various outings around the local community where they learn about the environment around them.

The position will be working with children ages 3 – 5 years old within the Pre-School room which caters for 18 children. You will ensure that the children reach their developmental milestones through their learning and development and begin to prepare the children for School.

Your role will include:

  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Assisting and supporting the children at meal times
  • Preparing the children for the transition to school
  • Carrying out Jolly Phonics as part of the daily routine
  • Developing their writing skills, listening skills and supporting them to follow instructions

 

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 2 – 3 years relevant Early Years experience
  • The ability to lead a small team
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS & Safeguarding
  • Good verbal and written communication
