Job Description

This nursery situated in Kingston is looking for Room Leaders and a Nursery Nurse to join their Baby and Lower Toddler Rooms. The nursery is operational 52 weeks of the year and they are open Monday – Friday 07:30 – 18:30 and cater for up to 100 children aged between 3 months – 5 years old.

The nursery is situated within a purpose built setting in the centre of Kingston and has recently been opened as a nursery, the setting ensures that they support all the children in reaching their developmental milestones by ensuring each child’s individual needs are met. The setting has 4 main rooms, which are age and stage appropriate along with three additional rooms for sleep, sensory and ICT. They ensure each child reaches their highest potential throughout their learning and development by providing exciting and educational activities on a daily basis. They also have a large garden with large play equipment enabling them to explore the outdoors.  

The positions will be working with children aged between 3 months – 2 years old within the Baby Room and Lower Toddler Room, ensuring that the room is run to a high standard and assisting the other staff within the room. You will be responsible for 6 key children and will need to monitor the children’s progress using the EYFS curriculum to ensure they are reaching their development stages.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s
  • Supporting the youngest children with weaning
  • Developing their Physical development by supporting crawling and walking
  • Carrying out sensory activities    


All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • The ability to lead a small team (Room Leader only)
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
