Job Description

A vibrant and newly re-furbished Day Nursery in Archway is looking for a Senior Nursery Nurse to join their Pre-School team. The Nursery operates Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.00am – 6.00pm, 52 weeks of the year and cares for up to 65 children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The Nursery strongly believes that each unique child should be cared for and supported as they grow and to be celebrated for their individuality. The setting consists of a Baby Room, Toddler Room and Pre-School Room, with a large outdoor garden and a separate soft play area for the Babies.

Your role as a Senior Nursery Nurse will be running the Pre-School Room and working as part of the Senior Team. You will be responsible for ensuring that children receive the highest standard of care and education and that staff are being supported. The Pre-School room cares for up to 23 children and you will be responsible for 3 staff members and your own key children.

Your role will include:

  • Leading the Pre-School Room in the overall day to day management and ensuring Nursery duties are followed
  • Working alongside the management team to ensure the best quality care and ensuring Pre-Schoolers have the best possible start to their School life
  • Key worker responsibilities, including planning, observing and recording learning development in line with the EYFS
  • Promoting positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues
  • Encouraging children to develop their social skills, interaction and self-esteem
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings as and when required
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s

All candidates must have:

  • A NVQ level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 2 years experience within an Early Years setting
  • Sound knowledge of the EYFS
  • The ability to lead and support a team
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
